In this tutorial I will show you how to redirect your page using a URL variable. So you will be able to do something like:
http://www.yoursite.com/redirect.php?url=http://www.redirectedsite.com
To redirect to another web page. This is much easier and better than using something like header ( ), although header ( ) is used in the script, because you can make new redirections with the same script and it helps you to build backlinks if people copy the URL.
The first thing you need to know is that we will be using this fuction called $_get ['something'] this basically means get something. In our case it means get the url.
So the first part of the code will be
$url = $_GET['url'];
What this does is defines what ever is in the variable as $url. So we could echo $url to show the url if we wanted. But thats a bit pointless.
The second part is the redirecting bit. To do this, as I have already mentioned, we will be using the header ( ) function.
header ( ) is a very simple function. Here is the code for a basic quite linear redirection script.
header("Location: http://www.google.com");
What this will do is when the user loads the page that this code is on they will be redirected to Google.
But for our script we would do this:
header("Location: $url");
They would now get redirected to what ever is in our URL variable when they load the page.
So here is our full source code:

So now when you user types in http://www.yoursite.com/redirect.php?url=www.site.com they will be taken to www.site.com! :)
I went very in depth for such a small ammount of code but I hope you fully understand it now. Also, Im not putting up a source code, the source is so small its not really worth it. Also a demo is a bit pointless to.
